Now is Time to Act: AWS Receives 3 Year FedRAMP ATO for US East and West Public Cloud Regions and AWS GovCloud (US) Region

Christian Carlson - Tuesday, May 21, 2013

The announcement today by Amazon Web Services that they have obtained a three year authority to operate by the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) is good news for the US Federal Cloud Computing community (http://amzn.to/11UxZOR). Agency CIOs now can rest assured: the AWS East and West Public Cloud Regions have been demonstrated to meet US Federal Security standards. Additionally, the AWS GovCloud (US) Region is the first compliant government community cloud; it is not only FedRAMP compliant but US International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) as well (http://www.gsa.gov/portal/content/171827).

Now is the time for action, and as an AWS Consulting Partner, Retriever Consulting stands ready to assist you as you plan and execute your movement into the AWS Cloud. Please contact us today to take advantage of this first mover capabilities.

About AWS GovCloud (US):

It is an AWS Region designed to allow US government agencies and customers to move more sensitive workloads into the cloud by addressing their specific regulatory and compliance requirements. Workloads that are appropriate for the AWS GovCloud (US) Region include all categories of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), including ITAR, as well as Government oriented publicly available data. Because the AWS GovCloud (US) Region is physically and logically accessible by US persons only and also supports FIPS 140-2 compliant end points, customers can manage more heavily regulated data in AWS while remaining compliant with federal requirements (http://aws.amazon.com/govcloud-us/).
